


Tulsidas
Born in Rambola during 1497 or 1532 in Rajpur, which is located in Uttar Pradesh. He is also known as Goswami Tulsidas. He was born on Saptami, the seventh day of shukla paksha the bright half of lunar Hindu calendar.
He was a great composer of several works during that era. He was very well known as the author of the epic Ramcharitmanas. Tulsidas spent most of his time in the city of Varanasi. He was a great poet, philosopher and world literature guru. His parents were Hulsi and Atmaram Dubey. One of the very interesting facts about Tulsidas is that he was in the womb 12 months before he gave birth. He also had all 32 teeth’s from his birth. The first word that he spoke out of his mouth was Rama. There is a river in Varanasi named after him. It’s called Tulsi Ghat on the Ganges river. He founded the sankatmochan temple, which was dedicated to Hanuman in Varnasi.He was invited by Mughal Emperor Akbar to showcase his magical powers.Tulsidas declined the invitation by Mughal Emperor Akbar and, therefore, was punished with Imprisonment. During the time period of imprisonment, he started writing Hanuman Chalisa.
Early Life:
Right after his birth he was abandon by his parents. He was moved to a town named Haripur with the maid of his mother Hulsi. She is the one who raised him for the first five years. After she passed away he was raised in an orphanage. He started his learning as Ayodhya at the age of 7. He got the knowledge of Sanskrit at the age of 17. His biggest achievement was he narrated the story of Ramayan. Hanuman Chalisa was written in Awadhi language. Hanuman Chalisa tells us the distance between Earth & Sun. Tulsidas had met the Immortal Hanuman face to face. Tulsidas got married to Ratnavali on the 13th day of Jyeshta month. Once his wife when to his father in laws house and he went to the hanuman temple, when he got home he didn’t see his wife so to meet her he swam all along river Yamuna.
Career:
He spent most of his life in the city known as Varanasi. Career as a poet and philosopher made Tulsidas very famous during that period. Stories of Doha and hanuman very one of most popular stories in his career.
Notable Works:
Tulsidas was known for many of his works. Just to mention a few: Dohavali: a collection of 573 Doha and sortha in braja. Kavitavali: a collection of poems. He has written seven books of poems. Gitavali: a collection of over 300 songs divided into seven books. Krishnavali: a collection of 61 songs particularly for Krishan and Vinaya Patrika: a collection of over 200 braja stanzas.
His most popular works are Hanuman Chalisa: 40 verses devoted to Hanuman. Sankatmochan hanuman ash Tak: consist of 8 verses for hanuman. Hanuman Bahuka: a story which depicts praying to the hanuman for curing his hand. Tulsi satsai: a collection of 747 dohas separated into seven sargas.

He died on the river bank of gange at the Assi Ghat in the month of shraavan which is between July and August in 1623.
